| Jean-Jacques (J.J) Katz, Ph.D. Chemistry, Purdue University established Automotive Interior Consulting in January 2008, to offer to the automotive interior trim and polyurethane industries technical expertise and marketing experience gained over a 30-year career with chemicals, polymers and automotive interior soft trim suppliers.
JJ Katz has been intimately involved with every aspect of interior soft trim transportation products and components, from raw material R&D, technical service, SQA, STA, sales, marketing, business development to strategic planning. He spent his career as a technical and commercial executive in the international automotive and polymer arenas, with global chemical and Tier 1/2 automotive interior parts/components suppliers. As a result, he has extensive knowledge of markets and in-depth experience of a range of value-added materials, products, technologies, as well as the cost drivers associated to their manufacturing processes.
He has established good relationships with numerous global automotive companies’ technical and purchasing staff, as well as suppliers of interior soft trim constructions, that focus on all aspects of passenger comfort, including seat systems, acoustical-related or noise-abatement packages and/or components.
JJ recently applied his technical know-how to recycling of automotive interior trim components and joined TrimaBond, LLC as Vice President, Technology. TrimaBond LLC is a Michigan-based, start-up company involved in recycling post-industrial and post-consumer automotive scrap into sustainable, value-added products targeted at industrial markets, such as transportation, construction, and packaging. The company is currently focusing on processing a wide range of landfill-bound, automotive interior trim scrap streams into finished molded panels, using proprietary, environmentally-friendly rebonding technologies. JJ's overall background and experience allow him to provide consulting services as both a technical and marketing expert. In that capacity, he has been supporting R&D programs, development projects, and institutional equity research. As an expert witness, he has also been involved in supporting clients in commercial and technology-related litigation.
